Whether you're living with chronic illness or persistent pain, navigating family changes, grieving what's been lost, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don't have to face it alone.

I come alongside individuals and couples offering compassion, understanding, and practical support by creating a trusted space for you to pause and process. Together, we can explore unhelpful thought patterns or behaviours, feelings of emotional overwhelm, and examine life stresses, and build practical tools that you can implement to help you feel more balanced, supported, and able to navigate life's challenges and changes with hope, resilience and confidence.

Counselling can help with:

  • The complexities of living with or supporting someone through chronic illness or persistent pain: unpredictable capacity, pacing, the mental and emotional toll, and grief over lost independence and the future you may have imagined having. Counselling can't remove illness, but it can help you carry it differently
  • Blended family challenges: communication, defining roles in the family unit, sibling rivalry, unrealistic and unmet expectations, and clashing family values
  • Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) and how it can show up in and impact adult life and relationships
  • Feelings of anxiety or depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Relationship Challenges
  • Increasing resilience and building capacity
  • Navigating life stage changes
  • Parenting

And many more...

Hi, I'm Kyra

I am a wife, step-mum, a Christian, and a qualified, ACA-registered, and experienced counsellor living in Newcastle, NSW.

I am passionate about helping individuals and couples find hope and healing by supporting them to improve their emotional and mental well-being and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and each other. I will come alongside you as you identify and tackle negative thoughts, beliefs, patterns, behaviours, and feelings that may be holding you back. I'll also support you as you uncover hidden strengths, set and achieve meaningful goals, discover and implement healthy coping strategies, and increase resilience to face life's challenges.

My professional training and lived experience with persistent pain and fatigue, and blended family life have given me a deeper understanding and empathy for the challenges people face and the anxiety, overwhelm, and grief that can come with them. This insight allows me to offer support with genuine compassion, respect, and care.

If you're feeling nervous or anxious about starting counselling, that is normal! Especially if you've never engaged in counselling before. But rest assured, counselling is a gentle process. The sessions can go at your pace, and there's no rush to figure everything out in the first session.

If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to meeting you and helping you thrive rather than just survive.

Kyra

(If you would like to talk about your personal faith and spirituality in your counselling session, you are welcome to. Our intake form provides you with the option to consent to it.)

Helpful Resources For Immediate Support

If you are in a crisis situation and require immediate mental health support, please see Health Direct's list of 24/7 mental health support services available to contact for support, or present to your local hospital's Emergency Department if you feel you are at serious risk of harming yourself.

If you are in need of practical support such as food, housing, or legal assistance, you can visit 'Ask Izzy' to find available and nearby help. Ask Izzy is free and anonymous, with support services listed across Australia https://askizzy.org.au/

Church communities often create a sense of belonging and acceptance, and can have a positive impact on mental health. If you're looking for a church community, you can visit 'Australian Churches' for a state-by-state directory https://www.australianchurches.net/
