Counselling offers a calm, supportive space to talk openly about what you’re carrying, without judgement or pressure.

I come alongside individuals and couples experiencing chronic pain, blended family challenges, anxiety, and depression, offering compassion, understanding, and practical support by creating a trusted space for you to pause and to process. Together, we explore unhelpful thought patterns, emotional overwhelm, and life stresses, and build practical tools to help you feel more balanced, supported, and able to navigate life with hope, resilience and confidence.

Counselling can help with:

  • The complexities of living with chronic pain and health conditions
  • Tricky blended family challenges, communication, and identifying individual roles in the family unit
  • Feelings of anxiety or depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Relationship Challenges
  • Increasing resilience and building capacity
  • Navigating life stage changes
  • Parenting
  • Childhood Emotional Neglect

And many more...

Within reach Counselling appointments are conveniently offered online via phone or Zoom.

Hi, I'm Kyra

I am a wife, step-mum, dog and cat mum, a Christian, and a qualified, ACA-registered, and experienced counsellor, and I live in Newcastle, NSW.

My lived experience with chronic pain, blended family life as a stepchild and now a step mum, anxiety, and grief, along with my professional training, have given me a deep understanding and empathy for the challenges people face, which allows me to offer support with genuine compassion, respect, and care. I am passionate about helping individuals and couples journey toward a better quality of life by improving their emotional and mental well-being and cultivating a deeper connection with themselves and each other. I aim to support you as you identify and tackle negative thoughts, beliefs, patterns, behaviours, and feelings that may hold you back. I'll also support you as you uncover hidden strengths, set and achieve meaningful goals, discover and implement healthy coping strategies, and increase resilience to face life's challenges.

Just so you know, feeling nervous or anxious about starting counselling is normal - especially if you've never engaged in counselling before. But rest assured, counselling is a gentle process. The sessions can go at your pace, and there's no rush to figure everything out in the first session.

If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to meeting you and helping you thrive rather than just survive.

Kyra

(If you would like to talk about your personal faith and spirituality in your counselling session, you are welcome to. Our intake form provides you with the option to consent to it.)

Helpful Resources For Immediate Support

Within reach Counselling is not a crisis support centre. If you are in a crisis situation and require immediate mental health support, please see Health Direct's list of 24/7 mental health support services available to contact for support, or present to your local hospital's Emergency Department if you feel you are at serious risk of harming yourself.

If you are in need of food, housing, or legal assistance, you can visit 'Ask Izzy' to find nearby help. Ask Izzy is free and anonymous, with support services listed across Australia https://askizzy.org.au/

Church communities often create a sense of belonging and acceptance, and can have a positive impact on mental health. If you're looking for a church community, you can visit 'Australian Churches' for a state-by-state directory https://www.australianchurches.net/
